Visual Artist, Musician
Monica holds a Master of Science in Art Education from Florida International University after receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. She is an art teacher at E.W.F. Stirrup Elementary School. She enjoys painting and printmaking to create both personal artwork and commissioned pieces. Inspired by traveling, her works reflect her deep connection with the natural world, placing importance on unity amidst a seemingly separated world. Notable exhibitions include showing pieces in the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum, Ronald W. Reagan Presidential House, FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios, Laundromat Art Space, Studio Hue 53, and Crandon Park.
Beyond the classroom and studio, Monica expresses her creativity through music. As the lead vocalist and keyboardist of SHIVVA, a South Florida alternative rock band, she channels the same passion for connection into sound. Performing at venues such as Revolution Live, Respectable Street, Gramps, and Las Rosas, she uses music as another way to bring people together.
