Emily Alegria

Filmmaker

Emily Alegria is a narrative and documentary filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Emily specializes in directing, producing, and editing. She is drawn to tell complex stories about identity and relationships, and how that impacts the human experience. Making the move from Montana to LA about a year and a half ago, her Montanan roots encourage her to sit with the stillness and emptiness of a vast landscape, and to get up close to find the beating heartbeat within the frame. Her films have been awarded “Best in Montana” and “Best Direction” in the Montana 48 hour film festival, and her most recent short film “Copper Horizon” that she co-directed was awarded the Big Sky Film Grant, and is currently in the festival circuit. She continues to direct, produce, and edit pieces that tell unconventional, thought provoking, and hopeful stories.
