Cortunay Minor

Theater Actor, Writer, Poet

Currently based in Los Angeles, California, Cortunay Minor (she/they) is a performing artist who predominantly specializes in Spoken Word poetry and Theatre acting. From being an interdisciplinary creator to living intersectionally as a queer, Black, AFAB individual, Cortunay has grown to value collectivity and connectivity deeply. In trying to center those values within every artistic pursuit, Cortunay often gravitates towards productions that she feels are community-focused and/or civically engaged, such as new works festivals. She holds the ideals of ‘artivism’ as a guiding focus, even beyond the stage or the page, supplementing life as an artist by also working as an educator. In the classroom, Cortunay particularly ascribes to Art Integrated Learning and Social Emotional Arts-Based Learning as core pedagogies. Cortunay believes that art can and often should educate, and that education should always be as multidisciplinary as feasible.

Cortunay would like to thank The Peace Studio for this opportunity and whoever is reading this for their time.
