Day 58: Lyn Patterson

Oakland, CA, United States

Much of my poetry starts as affirmations and meditations, for my inner self who seeks balance and stillness in the world. Through meditation, I can embrace stillness. We live in a world where the norm is a constant tension between urgency and efficiency. Peace can feel like a grandeur concept, but I have found that the sweetest peace comes from learning to do nothing and embracing the present. For my offering, I invite you first to be still as you listen to my poem and then connect with yourself more deeply by reflecting on its meaning.

Lyn Patterson is an educator, dancer, editor, and writer originally from Seattle, Washington. She is a deeply invigorated storyteller who has been writing for over ten years. In her work, she delves into the themes of identity, equity, overcoming trauma, accepting your wild, and learning to listen to your intuition. Lyn is specifically inspired to observe people deeply and to unpack the tensions and nuances of everyday life.
