Katherine Kafruni is an Arab-Venezuelan Multidisciplinary artist based in Miami, FL. They are currently enrolled in New World School of the arts, getting a BFA in Art and Tech. Coming from an old-fashioned Hispanic household, embracing their queerness was never celebrated. Close-minded environments led Kafruni to struggle with self love and acceptance. Katherine shares their experiences with the audience using different mediums such as sculptural paintings, street photography, and video art. Their practice focuses on Figurative and community based work, as it is important for them to connect with the community by sharing their personal truths. Katherine takes interest in the nature of people, and how they lead their lives. Kafruni utilizes disposed found-objects and gives them a new purpose. It is important to them to represent their struggles, without forgetting that there is joy in living, and existing.
