Meredith Porte is an independent media and events producer/host living in South Florida. Producing television programs for PBS in South Florida was her longtime profession and passion. She worked at WLRN Public Television for over 35 years where she produced and hosted numerous programs. Her most recent series at WLRN was the popular arts and culture show ArtStreet which ran for 11 years. During that time, she interviewed many artists and leaders including Jane Goodall, Clarke Peters, Madeline Albright, Edwidge Danticat, and Gloria Estefan.

Meredith fell in love with broadcasting the moment that she set foot inside a television studio. She had previously worked in forestry in the Pacific Northwest, overseeing reforestation projects and fighting forest fires. But she realized that she would rather talk to people instead of trees! Her first job at WLRN TV was producing and co-hosting a nightly live television program entitled Something on 17 which ran for 13 years. During that time she interviewed many personalities including artist Luciano Pavarotti, Sylvester Stallone, Gloria Steinem, and Sophia Loren.

Some of her award-winning specials which aired on PBS include: Memories of the Night: A Study of the Holocaust  hosted by Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel; Nature’s Helping Hands: EvergladesNational Park; and Making Your Dreams Come True, hosted by the creator and writer of the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul series Jack Canfield.

Meredith was very active with Images and Voices of Hope (now merged with The Peace Studio). She was a National Trustee and South Florida coordinator. She produced numerous conversations for over twenty years focusing on how journalists and artists could help bring benefit to society. Musician Robin Gibb, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Jim Morin and Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist Carl Juste were among the speakers.Meredith has been seriously studying meditation with the Brahma Kumaris Spiritual Organization for over 35 years. She has taught meditation at many companies including WLRN Public Radio and TV, Royal Caribbean, and Perry Ellis. Meredith has also been actively involved in many global projects including the Million Minutes to Peace Initiative which received the Peace Award from the United Nations and Global Cooperation for a Better World.
